Embrace in Salina: Where blend Sea Breezes and Bougainvillea

Salina has always been more than just a destination for Giulia it’s home. A place woven with childhood laughter, sunlit summers with loved ones, and an unbreakable bond with the sea. When the time came to plan her wedding, there was no doubt in her heart: Salina was the only place where she wanted to say I do. And that is exactly what it became a celebration of love, nature, and traditions.
The festivities began with a sunset welcome party at the Hotel Signum. Guests experienced a total white-themed evening on the Carrubo terrace, with live cooking by Chef Caruso, the warm glow of candlelight, and the rustic charm of hanging tomatoes, baskets of fruit, and Sicilian onions. DJ Pex and saxophonist Thoj filled the air with music, creating the perfect island atmosphere.
For the welcome party, Giulia wore a stunning dress by Zimmermann, paired with wedge sandals by Vibi Venezia, and adorned herself with ruby and diamond earrings, a precious gift from her parents.
The wedding ceremony took place in the picturesque church of Santa Marina, adorned with handcrafted Aeolian baskets and terracotta vases overflowing with bougainvillea, olive branches, and white flowers. Adding to its historic charm, the church’s stunning majolica-tiled floor was a gift from Belgian royalty. Giulia arrived in a beautifully restored 1963 Fiat Campagnola, driven by her father a touching nod to the past and a moment she will cherish forever.
For her special day, Giulia wore a custom-made lace gown from Le Baobab Sposa, a masterpiece that took over 1,000 hours to craft. Hidden within the delicate embroidery were their names, the wedding date, and the word Salina in blue a deeply personal and sentimental detail. She completed her look with a bouquet in soft pastel tones, heirloom diamond earrings from her family, and elegant Dior décolletée.
The reception took place under the stars at Hotel Signum, with a breathtaking view of Panarea and Stromboli. The round tables were adorned with volcanic-colored ceramics and lush centerpieces of bougainvillea, peonies, and wild berries. Each guest received a hand-painted Caltagirone ceramic plate, a timeless keepsake, alongside hand-embroidered linen napkins.
The carefully curated menu featured almond-infused pasta with clams and a delicate ricciola dish, enriched with local citrus and herbs. The evening’s entertainment included a mesmerizing performance by Creol Group, blending percussions, vocals, and jazz melodies. As the celebration continued, the bride changed into a handcrafted crochet dress, made by an artisan from Salina, and danced the night away in a pair of elegant espadrilles.
This wedding was a heartfelt homage to Salina a seamless blend of love, tradition, and the island’s natural beauty. Every detail reflected the couple’s journey, turning the day into an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
The magic of this wedding was captured through my photography, telling the story of love, tradition, and the breathtaking landscapes of Salina. My work was proudly featured in Vogue Italia, in an article written by Laura Tortora.
